Brussels police dismantle major drug network, arresting 27 suspects

Federal Judicial Police in Brussels have dismantled a major drug trafficking network, apprehending 27 suspects in a coordinated operation at the end of May. The investigation, initiated in 2025, revealed a well-organized criminal structure engaged in the supply, storage, packaging, and distribution of narcotics across the Belgian capital.

The network operated on multiple levels, with distinct roles and responsibilities. Investigators uncovered crucial storage facilities and logistical operations that were vital to the group's functioning. The complex dismantling effort required extensive collaboration between the investigating judge, the Brussels public prosecutor's office, and the Federal Judicial Police, involving several specialized units.

The operation on May 26th mobilized significant police resources, including special units and various Brussels police zones, to simultaneously target multiple locations. This coordinated approach was essential for securing evidence and ensuring officer safety. During house searches, authorities confiscated substantial amounts of cannabis and cocaine, much of it pre-packaged for sale, along with tens of thousands of euros in cash, firearms, vehicles, and packaging materials. Digital devices were also seized for further analysis.

Of the 27 individuals arrested, 10 have been detained and brought before an investigating judge. One minor was placed in a special youth care facility, and an undocumented individual was transferred to a closed center. This action is part of a broader judicial and police effort to combat drug trafficking in Brussels, which is frequently associated with public nuisance and violence.
