BSW representatives clash publicly over meeting invitation

Tensions within the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) party surfaced publicly during a dialogue event in Suhl, Germany, highlighting ongoing friction between its Thuringian chapter and the federal leadership.

Fabio De Masi, the federal chairman of BSW, directly accused Stefan Wogawa, the parliamentary group leader in Thuringia, of fabricating an invitation for a meeting with the party's national leadership. De Masi asserted that Wogawa had invented the invitation, leading to a heated exchange.

Wogawa vehemently denied De Masi's claims, retorting that De Masi himself was the one who had avoided the meeting. "You chickened out, Fabio, that's the truth," Wogawa reportedly exclaimed during the event.

The relationship between parts of the Thuringian BSW and the federal board has been marked by controversy, particularly since the party's decision to enter a coalition government with the CDU and SPD in Thuringia. BSW founder Sahra Wagenknecht has previously suggested that this coalition participation contributed to the party's narrow defeat in the 2025 federal elections.
