BTS's 'ARIRANG' Tops First Half Album Sales in Japan

The South Korean group BTS has achieved a significant milestone in Japan, with their 5th full album, titled 'ARIRANG,' topping the comprehensive album chart for the first half of the year. This success highlights the continued strong popularity of K-pop in the Japanese market.

According to Billboard Japan's 'Hot Albums' chart for the first half of the year, 'ARIRANG' secured the number one position. In the 'Top Album Sales' category, which tracks CD sales, the album sold an impressive 706,961 copies. It also performed well in online downloads, reaching second place with 20,139 downloads.

The chart also shows a strong presence of other K-pop artists. '&TEAM,' a multinational boy group that debuted in Japan, came in second overall with their mini-album 'We on Fire,' closely following BTS in CD sales with 705,543 copies. Enhypen's seventh mini-album 'The Sin: Vanish' ranked fourth, and Tomorrow X Together's eighth mini-album 'The Name Chapter: Temptation' secured the seventh spot. Other notable entries include TWS's 'Sparkling Blue' at tenth and Treasure's third mini-album 'Love Pulse' at thirteenth. Notably, all the male groups listed, except for Treasure, are under HYBE labels, underscoring the label's dominance.
