Buenos Aires launches AI app BAX for city services and complaints

Buenos Aires is rolling out BAX, a new artificial intelligence application designed to streamline interactions between residents and the city government. The app aims to consolidate a wide range of services, including appointment scheduling, urban complaint filing, and access to personal documents, into a single, user-friendly platform.

BAX utilizes AI to interpret user queries, whether typed or spoken, and guides them through the necessary processes. It draws information from various official city portals, ensuring real-time updates on topics ranging from administrative procedures and education to health, transportation, and cultural events. The application is available for both Android and iPhone users under the name “BAX, la IA de la Ciudad” and requires a miBA account for personalized functions and digital documentation access.

A key feature is the "My Documents" section, which provides unified access to digital credentials and certificates issued by the city, as well as other compatible documents like birth certificates. Users can bookmark, download, and share these documents via QR codes for verification purposes. The app also includes a "Activity" section to track the history of all user interactions, offering status updates on pending requests without needing to navigate multiple platforms.

The initiative, presented by the Head of Government Jorge Macri, is part of the city's strategy to adopt an "IA First" model, prioritizing AI as the primary mode of interaction. The system also incorporates real-time voice transcription, accessibility options, and 24-hour support, aiming to create a more efficient and accessible relationship between citizens and their local administration.
