Bulgarian social services agency to inspect providers with revoked licenses

The Agency for Quality of Social Services in Bulgaria is set to receive expanded powers, enabling it to inspect social service providers even after their licenses have been withdrawn. This significant regulatory update is included in proposed amendments to the Ordinance on the Quality of Social Services.

Under the new provisions, the agency will be authorized to conduct checks on individuals and entities whose licenses for social services have been revoked, terminated, or denied. This measure aims to strengthen oversight and ensure that standards are maintained or addressed, regardless of the provider's licensing status.

The proposed changes are expected to enhance accountability within the social services sector. By allowing inspections of former license holders, the agency can investigate any ongoing issues or ensure compliance with regulations even after formal authorization has ceased.
