Buraidah International Dates Carnival opens with 75-day season

The Buraidah International Dates Carnival commenced on Saturday, transforming the area near the Palm Center south of Buraidah into a bustling hub for farmers, traders, and importers. This significant event, running for 75 days until October 14, operates under the patronage of Qassim Emir Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal and is organized by the National Center for Palms and Dates.

Globally recognized as the largest dates market and a Guinness World Record holder, the carnival serves as a crucial economic platform for Saudi Arabia's dates industry. It draws participants and visitors from across the region, underscoring Qassim's prominent role in the palm and dates sector.

The Qassim region is a powerhouse in this industry, home to approximately 11 million palm trees. These trees yield an estimated 578,000 tons of dates each year, contributing around SR3.2 billion to the national economy. The sector also provides substantial employment, creating more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs and fostering further investment.

Beyond its economic significance, the carnival offers a rich cultural, tourism, and entertainment experience. These activities are designed to showcase Qassim's deep-rooted agricultural heritage and enhance the overall visitor experience, making it more than just a marketplace.
