Burkina Faso Denies Flying Eagles AFCON Ticket with Dominant Final Victory

Nigeria's Flying Eagles were defeated 4-1 by Burkina Faso in the final of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship, held at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. The defending champions struggled against a dominant first-half display from the Young Stallions.

Burkina Faso established clear control early on, netting three goals before halftime. Their quick attacks exposed vulnerabilities in Nigeria's defense, allowing them to exploit spaces with speed and direct play. This early pressure left the Flying Eagles chasing the game from the outset.

In the second half, Nigeria showed signs of a comeback when Muiz Adeleke converted a penalty, making the score 3-1. Despite increased pressure and creating some chances, the deficit and Burkina Faso's organized defense proved too difficult to overcome.
