Bus driver shot on route in San Juan de Miraflores

A bus driver in San Juan de Miraflores, Peru, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg on Sunday afternoon during an attack on his public transport vehicle. The driver, operating a bus for the Nueva América company, was shot when a motorcyclist fired directly at the bus. The incident occurred near the intersection of Agustín La Rosa Lozano Avenue, known as Pista Nueva, and Cerro Gris street, bordering San Juan de Miraflores and Surco districts.

Witnesses reported that the assailant was on a motorcycle and fired at the bus. The injured driver was quickly assisted and transported to María Auxiliadora Hospital for medical attention. A passenger inside the bus was also reportedly affected and taken to a nearby health center.

Following the attack, the National Police cordoned off the area to conduct their investigation. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances and motive behind the shooting. Local residents indicated that nearby surveillance cameras might aid in identifying the perpetrator and tracing their escape route. Police are gathering information from witnesses and security footage to ascertain if the attack is linked to extortion or other criminal activities.
