Business rates to be cut by 20% for England pubs, clubs and music venues

Pubs, clubs, and live music venues across England will receive a significant boost as business rates are slashed by 20% from April next year. The announcement from Downing Street offers a reprieve for thousands of hospitality businesses.

This measure comes after previous pledges to redirect tax revenue from e-commerce warehouses towards easing the financial burden on the hospitality sector. The government hopes this will provide much-needed support to venues that have struggled with rising costs.

Nearly 32,000 hospitality businesses are set to benefit from the discount. A typical pub can expect to save approximately £1,100 each year. However, the relief will not extend to the largest live music venues, a detail that may disappoint some in the industry.

The cut in business rates is intended to help these vital community hubs thrive and continue contributing to the cultural and social fabric of England.
