BYD Yuan Pro DM-i arrives in Ecuador with 1,100 km range in a plug-in hybrid SUV

BYD is expanding its electric mobility offerings in Ecuador with the introduction of the Yuan Pro DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV designed to tackle both urban commutes and long-distance travel.

The new model addresses a key concern for electric vehicle adoption in Ecuador: range anxiety for journeys beyond city limits. The Yuan Pro DM-i boasts an electric-only range of up to 100 kilometers, suitable for daily city driving. When longer distances are required, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a 18.3 kWh Blade Battery combine to provide a total range of up to 1,100 kilometers, according to NEDC cycle measurements.

Marisol Jácome, BYD Ecuador's commercial director, highlighted the vehicle's versatility during its launch. "We take the name of a vehicle that has already won the trust of Ecuadorians and evolve it to respond to a very clear need," she stated. The aim is to allow consumers to embrace new energy sources without sacrificing the ability to travel across the country.

The BYD Yuan Pro DM-i is priced at $26,990, with an additional incentive of a $1,000 bonus for the first 100 reservations. The vehicle features a 145 kW electric motor and front-wheel drive, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. BYD Ecuador's after-sales manager, Marco Albán, explained that the system prioritizes the electric driving experience whenever possible, ensuring a quiet ride and immediate response in urban environments.

With a declared fuel consumption of 4.3 liters per 100 kilometers (NEDC), the Yuan Pro DM-i seeks to offer an efficient solution for Ecuadorian drivers. This launch signifies BYD's commitment to growing its presence in the Ecuadorian market by offering a practical and adaptable hybrid option.
