Cabinet Approves Tender for Lubricant Oil Supply to Sapugaskanda Power Plants

Sri Lanka's cabinet has given its approval for the procurement of lubricant oil for the Sapugaskanda power plants, covering the 2026/27 period. This decision, made during a cabinet meeting on February 9, 2026, aims to ensure the continued operation of the power generation facilities.

The tender process was conducted using a national competitive bidding methodology, which resulted in three bids being submitted. Following an evaluation of these bids, recommendations were presented by the high-level procurement committee.

Based on these recommendations, the cabinet approved the awarding of contracts. Lanka IOC PLC will supply 316,000 liters of lubricant oil to the Sapugaskanda power plant's A station for a sum of 392.47 million Sri Lankan rupees, inclusive of value-added tax. This contract was awarded to the lowest bidder.

Additionally, Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC was awarded the contract to supply 304,000 liters of lubricant oil to the B station of the Sapugaskanda power plant. This contract is valued at 434.86 million Sri Lankan rupees, also inclusive of value-added tax, and was awarded to the lowest bidder for this segment.
