Cadillac F1 team replaces sporting director amid winless season

The Formula 1 team Cadillac has undergone a significant change in its leadership, replacing sporting director Graeme Lowdon with Polish engineer Marcin Budkowski. Lowdon was instrumental in assembling the team from its inception, including the high-profile signings of drivers Sergio "Checo" Pérez and Valtteri Bottas.

Despite these efforts, neither Pérez nor Bottas has managed to score any points this season, leaving Cadillac as the sole team without any points in the Constructors' Championship. The team stated that Lowdon's departure, which some speculate was not amicable, is aimed at strengthening the squad and improving on-track performance.

Budkowski's initial test in his new capacity will be at the Zandvoort circuit when Formula 1 resumes after its summer hiatus on August 21. Team CEO Dan Towriss expressed confidence in Budkowski's extensive F1 experience, technical knowledge, and strategic leadership, believing they will bolster the organization and foster a winning mentality essential for long-term success.

Towriss also acknowledged Lowdon's contributions, thanking him for his leadership in building the team from the ground up and wishing him well. Budkowski, in his first statement, highlighted the team's extraordinary foundation and ambition, emphasizing his focus on aligning personnel, tools, and information flow to expedite decision-making and enhance car performance.
