Çağatay Güç: “We are Turkey’s leading party and preparing to govern”

YENİ Party says it has built a broad organization in İzmir only a short time after its founding. Provincial chairman Çağatay Güç said all 30 districts had joined the party, along with 20 municipalities and about 60,000 members registered in 15 days.

More than 30,000 of those members signed up through the party’s online system, Güç said. He also pointed to strong attendance at district office openings, including about 1,000 people in Karşıyaka and 1,500 in Çiğli.

The party plans to move this week into an approximately 800-square-meter provincial headquarters. Güç said it would operate as İzmir’s political research and development center, with contributions from academics, universities, trade unions, professional chambers, business representatives, farmers, women, young people, retirees, disabled residents and civil society groups.

YENİ Party also plans to establish policy boards covering areas including the economy, agriculture, the environment, transport, education and health. Güç said the boards would gather data from affected communities, producers, scientists and professional organizations before turning proposed solutions into political policy. He described the party’s creation as the political expression of a growing demand for change in Turkey and credited its leader, Özgür Özel, with leading that movement.
