Cai Chang-hsien reveals family dental costs reach NT$3 million; experienced severe pain during trip

Taiwanese celebrity Cai Chang-hsien recently shared that his family has collectively spent around NT$3 million (approximately $92,000 USD) on dental treatments, including veneers for four of his teeth due to a past fractured incisor. The extensive dental work reflects a broader family issue, as his sister and mother also have significant dental concerns.

Cai recounted a harrowing experience during a trip to Bali with his wife. On the return flight, he suffered excruciating tooth nerve pain so severe that painkillers were ineffective. He resorted to constantly sipping ice water for relief. Upon landing in Taiwan, he had to continue filming the variety show "Super Red Star" and eventually pleaded with the producer for permission to seek immediate dental care, admitting he was close to tears while hosting.

Beyond his personal health update, Cai addressed the recent cancellation of Chen Ying-chieh's farewell concert by Xu Chang-de. Cai stated he saw Xu presenting an award at the Golden Melody Awards shortly before the news broke and noted that Xu had been working on Chen's affairs for a long time. Cai expressed empathy for Xu, acknowledging the deep friendship between them and the pressure Xu likely faced from various opinions.

While Cai's personal connection with Chen Ying-chieh is not deep, he recalled her guest appearance on "Super Red Star" 16 years ago, where she performed classic songs. He found revisiting footage of her performance moving, reflecting on the passage of time and the significance of such moments.
