Cameroon-AFD Cooperation: Ministry Consolidates Partnership for SMEs

Cameroon and the French Development Agency (AFD) are entering a new phase of cooperation aimed at bolstering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), crafts, and the social economy. The partnership will focus on new financing priorities and local transformation initiatives. This renewed commitment was affirmed during a meeting in Yaoundé between Cameroon's Minister of SMEs, Economy, Social Affairs, and Crafts (MINPMEESA), Achille Bassilekin III, and AFD officials. The meeting also served as a farewell for the outgoing AFD country director, Virginie Dago, and an introduction to her successor, Jérôme Notebaert, who is set to take office in late August. Discussions reviewed past joint projects, including TRANSFAGRI and SEPT, highlighting the successful collaboration between the ministry and the AFD over the past four years. The strengthened partnership signals continued support for Cameroon's economic development and diversification.
