Cameroon: Five new generals promoted, defense ministry reshuffled

Cameroon's President Paul Biya has issued three decrees, including one promoting five officers to the rank of brigadier general. Four of the newly promoted generals come from the Army, with one from the National Gendarmerie.

Further appointments were made within the Ministry of Defense. Brigadier General Agha Robinson Ndong was named logistics advisor, while Brigadier General Eloundou Mesmin Magloire Aristide was appointed central director of administration and logistics. Major General Ebaka Hippolyte is now the major general of the army staff, and Major General Nka Valère will command the joint training schools and centers. Brigadier General Assoualai Blama has been appointed inspector of forces, and Brigadier General Mezui Zo’o Elie Romance will command the Rapid Intervention Brigade.

The decrees also reorganized territorial commands. Brigadier General Melingui Nouma Donatien is now commander of the first inter-army region, and Brigadier General Nchankou Mbouombouo Njindam Oumar leads the 11th motorized infantry brigade. Colonel Ekoman Ekoman Yves Edgard commands the General Staff Brigade, and Colonel Aziz Njoya Yacouba leads the 21st motorized infantry brigade in the second military region. Rear Admiral ADE Nkwenti Hilary commands the third inter-army region, and Brigadier General Nouma Joseph is appointed commander of the fourth military region.

Finally, Brigadier General Beko’o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles has been appointed commander of the Presidential Guard. These appointments signal a significant reshuffling of leadership within Cameroon's military and defense apparatus.
