Camila Galante on life as a world champion’s wife, returning to Argentina and why motherhood is her best role

Camila Galante and Leandro Paredes began their love story as teenagers. She was 16 and he was 14 when they first became friends, before their first kiss and a shared life that has now lasted 16 years.

At 21, while studying fashion design, she moved to Italy with the footballer and their daughter Victoria, who was only two months old. Rome became one of her homes and a city that still holds a special place in her heart.

Between frequent moves, the demands of accompanying an elite footballer and motherhood, Galante developed an identity of her own. She became an entrepreneur behind Galante, her cosmetics and skincare brand. “I always dreamed of having something of my own to keep my mind occupied because I spend a lot of time alone,” she said. The brand also launched a men’s line around the time of the last World Cup, with Paredes as its face.

Now back in Argentina, Galante is enjoying a family routine she missed for years while following her husband’s career. Paredes has entered a new professional stage with Boca Juniors, and the family is closer to grandparents, uncles, aunts and friends. “Wherever Leandro and the children are, that is my world,” she said.

Galante said the return brought happiness, although the adjustment was difficult, especially for the children. She also explained that her sister now handles more of the business. The brand began under her full name before becoming simply Galante, as she sought to give the project its own identity.
