Campusano's two-run homer in the 10th lifts Padres over Yankees, 3-2

Luis Campusano changed the game with one swing in the 10th inning, hitting a two-run homer to give the San Diego Padres a 3-2 win over the New York Yankees on Friday.

The Dominican catcher sent his sixth homer of the season over the left-field wall against Paul Blackburn, who took the loss and fell to 7-3. The victory marked only San Diego's second win in its last seven games.

The Padres also reclaimed the National League's third wild-card position, moving ahead of Arizona. The Yankees, meanwhile, slipped four games behind Tampa Bay in the American League East.

New York had taken a 2-1 lead moments earlier. Rookie Spencer Jones drove in automatic runner Luis García Jr. with a single to center against Padres closer Mason Miller. Jones, 25, attended La Costa Canyon High School in northern San Diego County and was playing at Petco Park for the first time as a major-league player.

He had gone 0-for-3 before the RBI single. Campusano answered in the bottom half of the inning, delivering the decisive blow against Blackburn.
