Can Tho honors outstanding trade union officials and members

Can Tho city has celebrated its most outstanding trade union officials and members, honoring 48 individuals for their exemplary work during the 2023-2025 period. The ceremony, held as part of a national emulation movement, highlighted achievements in collective bargaining and innovative labor practices.

As a worker directly involved in production in the export sports shoe processing industry, my job, like that of millions of workers across the country, is very ordinary. Every day, we go to the factory, stand by the production line, work with our hands, with responsibility, and with the belief that the products we make will contribute to creating value for the business and for the country.

Lê Thị Sương Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and President of the Can Tho Trade Union Confederation, emphasized the importance of recognizing trade union leaders who effectively engage in dialogue and collective bargaining. These efforts, she noted, result in favorable terms for workers and strengthen the bond between unions and their members. The event also celebrated union members whose creative and efficient models in production have benefited their organizations and businesses.

Phan Thị Tiến Phương, a worker at Giáp Quán Thăng Co. Ltd., shared her experience as a representative of the honored workers. She described the daily routine of garment factory workers and how she and her colleagues identified issues with product quality and cost. They proposed improvements to sewing processes and product packaging, a suggestion that was supported by the company and the trade union. The implemented changes significantly reduced defects, enhanced product quality, and saved the company millions of dong.

But in labor production, we understand that just working hard is not enough. From the reality of daily work, my colleagues and I noticed some technical errors on the products that affected quality and incurred many repair costs. We boldly proposed changing the sewing process and improving the product packaging method.

Can Tho Trade Union Confederation stated that the "Good Worker, High Productivity, Good Income" emulation movement aims to awaken the spirit and creativity of Vietnam's working class. This initiative seeks to drive the modernization of production lines and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.

What is valuable is that the proposal was listened to by the business, and the Trade Union organization accompanied and supported it to test and perfect. Then the results exceeded expectations, the defect rate decreased significantly, product quality improved, helping to save billions of dong in production costs.
