“Can you go back to where you worked before?” Police chief revisits first station in Ogun

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu returned to the Ago-Iwoye Police Division in Ogun State, where his career began decades ago, and asked: “Can you visit where you worked before?”

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, shared the visit on X along with a video of Disu touring the station. Disu stood in his former office, visited the residence where he once lived and walked through his former farm.

It’s a very emotional one. This is my first police station. This is where I learned to be a DPO.

Iniedu described the return as a reminder that every senior officer began as a beginner. Disu said the visit was emotional because Ago-Iwoye was where he first served as a divisional police officer and tested his leadership abilities.

This is the first time I was able to test my leadership ability.

He also recalled people and places from his early posting, including an elderly woman who sold goods outside the station and a man known as Baba Aladji. Disu said the visit brought back memories of goats entering the station and of the local community around it.

“Where you work, do well,” Disu said, repeating the question of whether people could return to a former workplace. “Can you go back to where you worked before?”
