Canadian naval officer praises South Korean submarine as 'new Tesla' upgrade

A Canadian naval officer has lauded the advanced capabilities of South Korea's Dosan Ahn Changho submarine, drawing a striking analogy to illustrate its technological leap. Petty Officer Jake Dixon described the experience of being aboard the 3,000-ton class diesel-electric submarine as akin to "driving a 1999 Honda Civic and then getting into a new Tesla."

Dixon, who serves with the Royal Canadian Navy, had the opportunity to join the South Korean vessel during a recent transit. He boarded the Dosan Ahn Changho submarine in Hawaii on May 7 and arrived at the Esquimalt base the following day, gaining firsthand insight into its operations and features.

The comparison underscores the significant advancements in submarine technology that South Korea has achieved. The Dosan Ahn Changho, the lead ship of its class, is equipped with modern systems and weaponry, representing a substantial upgrade from older submarine designs.
