Cantv retirees in Falcon demand restoration of labor and medical rights

Retired employees of the Venezuelan state telephone company, Cantv, in Falcon are protesting what they call irregularities in their socio-economic benefits. The group of former workers is demanding an urgent salary adjustment and the full payment of owed incentives.

According to a report by Unión Radio, the retirees mobilized to demand an adjustment to their monthly allowances and the restoration of health insurance. "Claiming our constitutional rights; the right to health, to our dignified retirement; the homologation of the HCM, of the salary which is lower than a dollar. The restitution of our vital bonus which is $200, that they bring it to $200 in full and pay us the difference they owe us," stated retiree Landiz Pérez.

The affected individuals also noted that the loss of medical coverage worsens their living conditions, as most require specialized care and continuous medication. "We expect a response, because we have not had any response for health, for endorsement letters, or reimbursement, and we continue to earn the same salary. What can be done with Bs 571, which is our salary?" questioned retiree Morela Vargas.

For these reasons, the protesters have reiterated that they will maintain their protest actions in the state until the management of the telephone company responds to their petitions and adjusts pensions to the real costs of the basic food basket.
