Carlos Manzo Case: Michoacán Prosecutor Summons Senator Raúl Morón to Testify as Witness; He Will Appear Tuesday

The Michoacán state prosecutor's office has summoned Senator Raúl Morón Orozco to appear as a witness in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodríguez, the husband of Uruapan's current mayor, Grecia Quiroz García. Morón, a member of the ruling Morena party, is expected to testify on Tuesday, June 9, at 11:00 AM at the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Intentional Homicide.

This summons follows a complaint filed by Mayor Quiroz García against Morón and other Morena party figures. She accuses them of committing illicit acts and issuing threats against her late husband, Carlos Manzo. Manzo had publicly denounced these individuals in various videos, holding them responsible for any harm that might befall him.

Prior to Senator Morón, other prominent Morena figures, including former Uruapan mayor Ignacio Campos Equihua and federal deputy and former governor Leonel Godoy Rangel, have also appeared before the prosecutor's office. Their testimonies were reportedly accompanied by political rallies, turning their legal appearances into public demonstrations.

The Michoacán prosecutor's office has reportedly verified the authenticity of multimedia evidence presented by Quiroz García. This verification led to the calls for Morón, Campos, and Godoy, all identified as political antagonists of Manzo Rodríguez, to provide their statements.
