Carlos Palacios left out of Boca Juniors squad for UC match

Boca Juniors will be without Chilean midfielder Carlos Palacios for their upcoming Copa Libertadores clash against Universidad Católica. Palacios, a key player for the Argentine club, was notably absent from the squad list for the match at La Bombonera.

Despite receiving medical clearance following surgery on his right knee's external meniscus, Palacios has been excluded by coach Claudio Úbeda. His absence from the field dates back to December 7, 2025, when he played a full match in a loss against Racing. Since then, a persistent synovitis condition has kept him sidelined throughout the first half of the season.

Palacios's return to action in Argentina is not expected until the Clausura tournament kicks off in mid-July. In the meantime, he will watch from the sidelines as Boca Juniors, currently third in Group D with seven points, battles for qualification. They trail Universidad Católica by two points and Cruzeiro by one.

The "Joya," as Palacios is known, will continue his recovery process while his teammates vie for advancement in the prestigious South American club competition.
