Carlos Sainz extends contract with Williams F1 team

Carlos Sainz is staying with the Williams Formula 1 team for several more years, signing a contract extension that ends speculation about his future. The announcement followed his teammate Alex Albon's renewal through the 2027 season.

Despite a challenging season where Sainz, a four-time Grand Prix winner, has yet to score points, the 31-year-old Spanish driver chose to remain with Williams. "I sincerely believe in the people that are part of this team, in the factory and at the races, and in the investment and hard work that is being done behind the scenes," Sainz stated. He added, "We have what it takes to turn this situation around together. I am as committed as I was on day one to helping put Williams back where it belongs, and I look forward to creating more memories with the team."

The deal, announced just before the Dutch Grand Prix, provides relief for Williams team principal James Vowles. "Carlos shares the belief and ambition we have at Williams and pushes every day to achieve it," Vowles said. "Together with Alex, I truly believe we have one of the strongest pairings on the grid and a team capable of fighting for every bit of performance together."
