Carrió Slams Milei's AI Vision as 'Catastrophic Experiment' Influenced by Thiel

Argentine politician Elisa Carrió launched a fierce critique of President Javier Milei's recent opinion piece in the Financial Times, denouncing his vision for Artificial Intelligence and technological innovation as a potential "catastrophic experiment" for human dignity.

Carrió, a key figure in the Civic Coalition, expressed her concerns in a letter addressed to the Argentine people. She argued that Milei's proposal, which advocates for minimal state intervention and embraces the "Super RIGI" (a framework for large investments), is heavily influenced by the philosophy and economic power of tech entrepreneur Peter Thiel. She characterized this ideology as an "obscure illustration" that seeks to dismantle the state and privatize security forces.

Drawing parallels with historical totalitarianism, Carrió cited philosophers Hannah Arendt and Karl Jaspers. She referred to Thiel, the founder of Palantir, a Big Data firm with early CIA funding, as an "antichrist." Carrió warned that enabling such regimes and ideologies threatens society as a whole, leading to a "private totalitarianism" dominated by corporations like Thiel's.

Carrió urged Argentines to resist this direction, calling for a defense of "law, freedom, free will, right, and justice." She framed the situation as an "existential problem" and a "test from God," imploring citizens to be "light in the midst of darkness" and to reject Milei's project. She emphasized the importance of raising the "light of our consciences and our deepest beliefs" in the face of perceived darkness.
