Cartier's Love bracelet gets a gemstone makeover, replacing screws with a rainbow of jewels

French luxury house Cartier is reimagining its celebrated Love bracelet, infusing the timeless design with a spectrum of vibrant gemstones. The iconic collection, originally inspired by the humble screw, has consistently evolved since its 1969 debut, and this latest iteration introduces a bold, colorful aesthetic.

The original Love bracelet, conceived by designer Aldo Cipullo, symbolized enduring love through its interlocking circular design and distinctive screw motifs. A key element of its original concept was the need for a screwdriver to open or close it, emphasizing the idea that love requires mutual cooperation and understanding.

Cartier has previously updated the Love bracelet with variations such as screw-free clasps and more easily wearable open cuffs. The avant-garde Love Unlimited collection, launched last year, featured flexible, interconnected links, reflecting contemporary notions of love and the line's adaptability.

This year's evolution sees six new gemstone-studded models. Three feature ten colorful gemstones, including sapphires, crystals, tanzanite, garnets, and tsavorites, arranged around white, yellow, or rose gold bracelets, creating a luxurious rainbow effect with wrist movement. The other three models are lavishly set with 165 pink sapphires, blue sapphires, or green tsavorites, complemented by ten scattered brilliant-cut diamonds, adding a lively sparkle to the opulent designs. These new pieces, whether monochromatic or multi-hued, represent the infinite potential of love and the enduring appeal of the Love series.
