Case Registered Against BJP MLC C.T. Ravi Over Alleged Hate Speech

A case has been registered against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC C.T. Ravi for allegedly delivering a provocative speech that fueled hatred and communal discord. The Chikkamagaluru Town police filed the case on Friday night following a complaint by Jamia Masjid president Mudasir Pasha.

Pasha alleged that Ravi, a former Karnataka minister, made objectionable remarks against the Muslim community during a public meeting. The speech, delivered at a "Youth for Nation" program, reportedly criticized protests over the NEET exam paper leak and questioned Muslim participation in the agitation. The complainant stated that Ravi's remarks were derogatory, hurt religious sentiments, and could incite hatred between communities, potentially disturbing public peace.

Police confirmed the registration of a criminal case and have begun an investigation. Additional Superintendent of Police Jaya Kumar stated that Ravi would be issued a notice to appear for an inquiry. Investigators are meticulously reviewing video footage, speech recordings, and social media clips to ascertain whether Ravi's statements fall under provisions related to promoting enmity and disturbing communal harmony. The outcome of this investigation will determine further legal action against the BJP leader.
