CBO issues commemorative coin celebrating FIFA World Cup 2026

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) is commemorating the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 with a special silver coin, marking a collaboration with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The tournament is scheduled to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

The commemorative coin is crafted from 99.9% pure silver, adhering to high technical standards. It features a face value of one Omani Rial, measures 38.61 mm in diameter, and weighs 28.28 grams. In total, 5,000 of these coins have been produced. Of this mintage, 1,000 coins are designated for sale within Oman, while the remaining 4,000 will be distributed to international markets through authorized FIFA sales partners.

The CBO has confirmed that the coin holds legal tender status at its face value. Sales are set to commence on June 30, 2026. Interested buyers can acquire the coins at CBO branches located in Ruwi, Salalah, and Sohar, as well as through the Oman Post sales outlet at Opera Galleria. The initial selling price is set at 73 Omani Rials per coin, though this price is subject to adjustments based on global silver market fluctuations.
