  • The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched its own portal for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer scripts, replacing a previous third-party platform.
  • While teachers find the new system smoother and more secure, some students still face issues receiving scanned copies of their scripts for re-evaluation requests.
  • Over 160,000 students have requested verification for more than 380,000 answer books between June 2 and 7, indicating significant demand for the process.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer scripts using its newly developed portal, marking a shift from the previously used Coempt Edu Teckโ€™s OnMark platform. Teachers and officials involved in the process have described the new system as more efficient and secure.

However, the transition has not been without challenges for students. Some have reported persistent difficulties in obtaining scanned copies of their answer scripts, a crucial step for initiating re-evaluation requests. This issue hinders their ability to seek a review of their marks.

Data from CBSE reveals a substantial volume of requests. Between June 2 and 7, over 160,000 students submitted requests for verification and question-wise objections concerning more than 380,000 answer books. This represents approximately 35% of the 1.1 million scanned copies students had sought earlier in the period from May 19 to 25.

Teachers involved in the re-evaluation process highlighted that evaluators examine only the specific questions flagged by students. They assess each challenged question independently, without knowledge of the original evaluator's marks, and strictly adhere to the CBSE marking scheme. The process involves multiple evaluators to ensure fairness, with examiners reviewing scanned scripts and awarding marks where justified. The new system, developed with experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur, has reportedly addressed many operational difficulties previously encountered.

CBSEโ€™s own OSM system is better, stronger, smoother and safer than Coemptโ€™s OnMark platform. We are not facing the issues that we experienced earlier.
