Celebrity Shen Yu-lin apologizes for smoking in Taipei's no-smoking zone

Taiwanese celebrity Shen Yu-lin, known for his "absurd master" persona, has drawn criticism after being photographed smoking heated tobacco in a designated no-smoking area in Taipei's Ximending district. The incident occurred on June 3, shortly after the 58-year-old entertainer made a public comeback following his recovery from leukemia.

Shen Yu-lin was on location for his new show, "Life is Infinitely Good Company," alongside co-stars Pan Ruo-di and Mario. While filming a segment involving distributing candied chestnuts, he was observed taking three separate breaks to smoke heated tobacco in a sheltered area near Exit 6 of the Ximen MRT station. The location is a public no-smoking zone, and the violation coincided with the "No Smoking Day" in Taiwan, adding a layer of irony to the situation.

After being confronted with the evidence, Shen Yu-lin acknowledged his mistake. He stated that he would be more mindful of the regulations in the future and expressed his commitment to improving his conduct. The celebrity had previously been away from the entertainment scene for eight months while undergoing treatment for leukemia, during which time his health was a significant concern.
