CEMAC moves ahead with programme-based budgeting plan

The Central African Economic and Monetary Community has opened a three-day workshop in Yaoundé to prepare its next strategic and budget framework. The meeting began on September 2 at the CEMAC Commission’s representation in the Cameroonian capital under the chairmanship of the Commission’s vice-president.

The workshop is designed to help members of the Commission’s government understand and adopt the 2027-2030 Strategic Plan and the programme-based budget. Participants will examine and validate the plans’ main directions before approving an operational roadmap.

That roadmap will then be sent to the Council of Ministers. Over 72 hours, discussions will focus on stronger financial governance, institutional performance and the direct effect of CEMAC policies on people in the region. The organizers present the exercise as part of efforts to equip the institution with more modern and effective governance tools, and as a step toward deeper regional integration in Central Africa.
