Ceuta migrant influx: Government delegate denies city president's prior warning

The delegate of the Spanish government in Ceuta, Miguel Ángel Pérez, has refuted claims that the city's president, Jesús Vivas, had alerted Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to the impending large-scale arrival of migrants.

"I have read a report stating that President Vivas had tried to warn the president of the government about what was going to happen. I suppose it must be a misunderstanding because it is not true," Pérez stated. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Childhood reported that over a hundred unaccompanied minor migrants spent their first night in a Ceuta school. The ministry had requested the use of two schools to urgently accommodate these children who arrived the previous week.

The King of Spain is scheduled to receive the president of the Autonomous City of Ceuta in an audience this afternoon in Marivent, Palma. This royal audience follows a planned meeting between Vivas and the president of the Balearic Islands, Marga Prohens.

Separately, the Civil Guard announced that one of the 80 bodies recovered on Ceuta's coast after the massive migrant influx has been identified through DNA. Commander Sergio Munguía stated that 32 missing person reports with sufficient detail have been received. Authorities are working to identify 29 other cases, pending biological samples from relatives. Fingerprints have also been sent to Morocco for comparison, with responses awaited.
