CFL history made: McAllister scores three ways as Stampeders crush Blue Bombers

Tyreik McAllister achieved a rare feat in Canadian Football League (CFL) history Friday night, scoring touchdowns in three distinct ways to power the Calgary Stampeders to a dominant 52-30 win against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. McAllister, a 28-year-old running back, became the first player in league history to record a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a kick return touchdown all within a single game.

McAllister opened the scoring with a 17-yard run, followed by a 56-yard touchdown reception, and capped his first-half performance with a 118-yard kick return for a major after a missed field goal. "I’m just grateful for my coaches and my teammates for putting me in a position to make those plays."

According to the CFL, McAllister is only the third player ever to score in three different ways in the same game, with the last instance occurring in 1988. Calgary quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., who helped recruit McAllister, expressed his delight. "He’s just a hell of a player and an even better dude. Just happy for him and his family, and happy we got him," Adams said.

Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson lauded McAllister for capitalizing on his opportunities. "We feel very fortunate when we got a chance to bring him into our team," Dickenson stated. "We knew he was good and we actually wanted to give him more run plays, get him more touches."

The victory ended a two-game losing streak for Calgary (3-4), while Winnipeg (4-3) saw its three-game winning streak halted. Adams also continued his strong season, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns, setting a new CFL record for most passing touchdowns without an interception to start a season, while tying Dickenson's mark for most passing scores in a single season without a pick.
