Chadwick Boseman's estate: Brothers sue widow six years after actor's death

Six years after the death of actor Chadwick Boseman, a legal battle has emerged between his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, and his brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, over the management of his estate. The brothers have filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles seeking to remove Ledward as the administrator, alleging she has failed to properly distribute the remaining assets.

According to court documents, the Boseman brothers claim that Ledward continues to exercise full control over the estate without consulting the actor's parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, who are entitled to 25% of the inheritance. Ledward, as the widow, is entitled to 50% as Boseman died intestate approximately six days after their private wedding.

The lawsuit states that a court order in 2022 directed Ledward to distribute estate assets, including a $40,000 life insurance policy for his mother. However, Derrick and Kevin allege that Ledward maintains unilateral control, denying the family closure and participation in decisions affecting their interests.

The brothers also claim the estate includes assets beyond bank accounts and the insurance policy, such as intellectual property rights, royalties, real estate, and an undisclosed bank account. They assert that Ledward's lack of transparency suggests she may be hiding assets from the family and the court. Specific grievances include the alleged non-delivery of the insurance policy to Carolyn and the continued existence of undisclosed bank and retirement accounts.
