Chao Chien-ming claims forced divorce, netizen comments on his 'overfilled' face

Chao Chien-ming, former husband of former Taiwanese First Lady Chen Shui-bian's daughter, Chen Hsing-yu, has spoken out about their divorce. Chao stated he was "forced to divorce" and found Chen's claim that he still wants to reconcile "a bit inexplicable."

Online discussions have focused on Chao's changing appearance. One netizen on Threads commented that Chao's face had become "overfilled," comparing it to the Taiwanese celebrity "Show Lo." The netizen explained that this "overfilled syndrome," also known as "man hua" in Mandarin, often occurs when people get cosmetic fillers to address sunken cheeks. They noted that men, in particular, should avoid overly full mid-faces. The commenter advised against excessive fillers, suggesting that natural facial contours are more aesthetically pleasing and that the trend of "full faces" is no longer popular even in South Korea.

Chao recounted that Chen Hsing-yu initiated the divorce, which was originally scheduled for June of the previous year but she had suggested moving it to April or May. They ultimately divorced in June. When asked about the reasons for the divorce, Chao declined to comment, citing it as a private family matter.

"Overfilled syndrome" (man hua lian) refers to a condition where excessive or improper cosmetic filler injections, such as hyaluronic acid, autologous fat, or collagen stimulators, lead to overly full, stiff tissues and blurred contours, resembling an over-proofed steamed bun.
