Charity Family Run 'Tushoo Той' to Support Children in Bishkek

Bishkek is set to host the "Tushoo Той" charity family run on May 31, coinciding with International Children's Day. The event aims to unite the running community, families, volunteers, and partners in a collective effort to support children facing difficult life circumstances.

Organizers plan to raise a minimum of 100,000 Kyrgyz soms (approximately $1,140 USD) for the Center for Child Protection. The run will feature a unique element: the symbolic "tushoo kesuu," a traditional Kyrgyz ceremony of cutting the cords that bind a child's legs, symbolizing a wish for a happy life path. The first children to cross the finish line will symbolically perform this ritual for other children, representing support and new opportunities.

Participants can choose from three distances: 500 meters for children under 8 with accompanying adults, 1 kilometer for ages 9-14, and 2 kilometers for participants aged 15 and older. Beyond the race, attendees can enjoy a festival atmosphere with animators, a soap bubble show, face painting, temporary tattoos, board games, art and ceramic painting master classes, a photo zone, relaxation areas, and prize drawings. All finishers will receive commemorative medals.

The registration fees will directly benefit the Center for Child Protection, while "Bank Kompanion" is the general partner covering the event's operational costs. The Center for Child Protection, operating in Bishkek since 1998, provides temporary housing, food, psychological support, and assistance in family reunification for children in crisis situations. The run begins at 9:00 AM in Adinaï Park, with participation costing 800 soms per person.
