Chelsea Breaks Transfer Record, Signs Morgan Rogers for £117 Million

Chelsea has shattered its transfer record by signing attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a staggering £117 million. The 23-year-old English international's move makes him the most expensive player in Chelsea's history, eclipsing previous record holders.

Rogers' transfer fee of £117 million surpasses Elliot Anderson's recent move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for £116 million. It also significantly exceeds the £115 million Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo three years ago, who was previously the club's most expensive signing.

Rogers, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or a winger, has committed his future to Chelsea by signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2033. He expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating, "For me, Chelsea is the biggest London club and I admired it as a boy. I'm really excited about the project under the new manager, the players we have, and the direction we are going. That's why I came."

During his two and a half seasons at Aston Villa, Rogers made 125 appearances and scored 31 goals, contributing to the team's Europa League victory in May. His arrival at Chelsea comes as the club looks to rebuild its squad after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season, missing out on European competition.
