Chelsea complete signing of Danny Welbeck from Brighton

Chelsea FC has officially completed the signing of veteran striker Danny Welbeck from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, the club announced Saturday.

The 35-year-old former England international has signed a contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2028. Welbeck is set to join Xabi Alonso’s squad during the Blues’ pre-season tour, expressing immense pride and honor at the move.

Welbeck brings a wealth of experience to Chelsea, with over 400 Premier League appearances. His career includes stints at Manchester United, where he won the Premier League, and Arsenal, where he won the FA Cup. He also played for Watford before joining Brighton, where he made over 200 appearances and was a consistent scorer. Internationally, Welbeck earned 42 caps for England, participating in Euro 2012 and two FIFA World Cups. He expressed his eagerness to contribute, stating, "I’ve got that fire in my belly and I’m ready to give it everything for this club to make everyone at Chelsea, and the supporters, proud."
