Chelsea presents new signing Valentín Barco with unique video featuring club idol

Chelsea has officially welcomed Argentine talent Valentín Barco, signing the 22-year-old midfielder to a contract running until 2033. Barco joins the London club from French side RC Strasbourg, with Chelsea confirming the transfer in a statement.

The club marked Barco's arrival with a distinctive welcome video. The footage features London streets with a radio announcement of his signing playing in the background. The segment culminates with Chelsea icon Gary Cahill offering his thoughts on the new acquisition. "He could be a very good signing, very attacking. Barco, who represented Argentina in the 2026 World Cup, began his career at Boca Juniors. He moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2024 for a $10 million release clause, but saw limited playing time. Loan spells at Sevilla and then Strasbourg followed. His performances in France, where he played 58 games and scored three goals for Strasbourg after they purchased him for 10 million euros in mid-2025, marked his significant international breakthrough. He was a key player for Strasbourg, especially after his standout performances in the 2023 Copa Libertadores with Boca.
