Chelsea sign Barco from Strasbourg until 2033

Chelsea FC has officially announced the signing of Argentinian international Valentin Barco from French club Strasbourg. The versatile 22-year-old midfielder has agreed to a seven-year contract, committing him to the Premier League club until 2033.

Financial terms of the transfer were not disclosed by either club. Barco joins Chelsea after a season with Strasbourg, where he made a significant impact. He featured in 58 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and 11 assists. His previous club experience includes a stint with Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, and he began his professional career at the renowned Argentine club Boca Juniors.

Barco was part of the Argentinian squad that recently competed in the World Cup final, where they were defeated 1-0 by Spain. The midfielder has earned five caps for his country, scoring twice.

This signing marks another addition to Chelsea's squad as they prepare for the new season under manager Xabi Alonso. The club has been active in the transfer market, also securing playmaker Morgan Rogers, defender Maxence Lacroix, and striker Danny Welbeck. Chelsea is set to kick off their new Premier League campaign with an away match against Fulham on August 24.
