Cheng Nan-jung Report: Hou Yu-ih Skips Control Yuan Hearing, Su Chiao-hui Declines Comment

Taipei, Taiwan – A newly released investigation report by Taiwan's Control Yuan into the Cheng Nan-jung incident has drawn attention, particularly regarding New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih's non-appearance for questioning. The report, which concluded that the Executive Yuan violated the principle of proportionality at the time, had requested Hou, a former head of the Zhongshan Precinct's criminal investigation division, to appear.

When asked about Hou's absence, Su Chiao-hui, the Democratic Progressive Party's candidate for New Taipei mayor, stated she had not yet seen the Control Yuan's report. "As Taiwan is a democratic constitutional state, the legislative and control powers are independent. I haven't seen the report, so I'm unclear and cannot comment," Su said.

Su made these remarks after inspecting the construction of the Tucheng-Shulin Line CQ890 project alongside Hou Yu-ih. She reiterated her campaign's focus on a "sunny, positive attitude," emphasizing the presentation of policies and visions. She highlighted her campaign team, including incumbent city councilors and candidates, as examples of this approach, aiming to serve the citizens of New Taipei.
