Chiang Wan-an arrives late for Yilan campaign event, blames traffic

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an made a campaign stop in Yilan to support Kuomintang candidate Wu Tsung-hsien, who is running for county magistrate. Chiang, whose wife is from Yilan, arrived significantly late for a scheduled street sweep event.

The event, set to begin with a street sweep at 8:15 AM, was delayed until 8:55 AM when Chiang appeared at the Luodong City God Temple. He explained his tardiness by citing unexpected Saturday morning traffic congestion.

Chiang apologized for the delay, stating, "I didn't expect Saturday mornings to be this congested!" He assured attendees that he would proceed with the market tour and rally with Wu. He also emphasized his connection to Yilan as a "son-in-law" and praised Wu's proposed policies, which he believes address the needs of local residents, including children, parents, and the elderly.

Wu Tsung-hsien welcomed Chiang, noting that many residents in Luodong had eagerly awaited his visit. He expressed confidence that Chiang's presence would be well-received by the community. The two later appeared together for the street sweep and attended a rally.

He is the son-in-law of Luodong, so after we held the first event in Yilan City in May, many Luodong residents asked when Mayor Wan-an would be invited.
