Chiang Wan-an counters 'Huang Kuo-chang mode' criticism, says public tired of DPP's 'lies'

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has fired back at criticism from Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Shen Po-yang, who described Chiang's political style as shifting from a "Ma Ying-jeou mode" to a "Huang Kuo-chang mode." Shen accused Chiang of becoming aggressive and avoiding substantive issues in pursuit of higher office.

Responding to the remarks made during an online media interview, Chiang stated his primary focus is on city administration and securing re-election at the end of the year. However, he also took the opportunity to criticize the DPP's governance, alleging a pattern of "lying, covering up, and fraud" that he claims the public can no longer tolerate after a decade in power.

Chiang made these comments while attending a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of Dongxin Elementary School. He highlighted public dissatisfaction with the current government's handling of issues such as vaccine procurement delays and responses to past scandals, like the "toxic oil" incident, as examples of the DPP's perceived failures.

Looking ahead, Chiang announced his intention to campaign in Yilan and Hualien over the weekend to support candidates. He affirmed his commitment to providing assistance wherever needed, emphasizing his dedication to the upcoming electoral efforts.
