Chiayi City finds all tested camellia oils meet standards

Chiayi City's Department of Health has announced that all commercially sold camellia seed oil samples tested in an expanded inspection met regulatory standards. This initiative was prompted by recent cases where several camellia seed oil products were found to exceed the permissible limits for benzo(a)pyrene, a type of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). The recent inspection specifically examined four types of PAHs, including benzo(a)pyrene and others, across four different products. The tested oils included those from 'Yuansheng Shanghang,' 'Mingjiang Pure Oil Workshop,' and 'Tougou Industrial Co., Ltd.' (under the brands 'Mingjiang Pure Seed Camellia Oil' and 'Yongling Selection Premium Cold-Pressed Camellia Oil'). All samples passed the tests. The Chiayi City Department of Health stated it will continue to cooperate with the Food and Drug Administration's inspection programs for edible oil manufacturers. They also plan to guide local edible oil manufacturers in improving their practices. The department urges consumers who may have purchased problematic camellia oil products to stop consumption and seek returns from their point of purchase.
