Chiayi Detective Leader Arrested for Leaking Raid Info to Arcade Operator

A team leader within the Chiayi City Police Bureau's detective division has been arrested and ordered into custody for allegedly leaking information about upcoming police raids to an electronic arcade operator. The officer, identified by his surname He, is suspected of corruption and colluding with the businessman, surnamed Chen, to provide advance notice of inspection operations.

The Chiayi District Prosecutors Office, in conjunction with the Investigation Bureau's southern branch, conducted searches at five locations, including He's office, residence, and the implicated arcade chain. He was apprehended while on leave, and Chen, along with other individuals, were brought in for questioning. Prosecutors requested pre-trial detention for both He and Chen, citing the seriousness of the alleged offenses.

Following a court hearing, He was ordered detained and barred from communicating with others, while Chen was granted bail of NT$300,000 (approximately $9,200 USD) with restrictions on his place of residence. Two other defendants, surnamed Lin and Pu, were granted bail of NT$30,000 and NT$80,000 respectively, while four others were released.

First Police Precinct Director Yan Bai-chuan expressed profound regret over the allegations against He, who had recently been promoted to team leader. Yan stated that the police department would immediately convene a disciplinary committee to recommend He's suspension or more severe punishment in accordance with the law. He emphasized the department's commitment to cooperating fully with the investigation and upholding the integrity of the police force, vowing strict punishment for any violations.
