Chiayi Great Station Plan Launched, Urban Renewal Survey Begins for 'Little Penghu' Area

Chiayi City's "Great Station Plan" is officially underway, with the city government initiating a public urban renewal survey for the "Little Penghu" area. The survey will run until September 30. Two information sessions are scheduled for July 9 and July 11 at the "Little Penghu" urban renewal service station. These sessions will detail the future vision for the Chiayi Great Station area, the public urban renewal process, and its benefits.

Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hui highlighted that the railway elevated project presents a rare and significant opportunity for the city's development. The city is simultaneously advancing the "Cultural Silk Road 2.0" flagship initiative, integrating transportation, culture, industry, and urban space to upgrade the city. The Great Station Plan is central to this future development, aiming to connect the areas north and south of the railway, revitalize the old city, and establish a new urban gateway.

The Little Penghu area, adjacent to the new Chiayi Station, boasts excellent location advantages and is poised to become a prime gateway to the new station, possessing significant development potential.

The department emphasized that this survey is the crucial first step in public urban renewal. If over 50% of landowners and building owners agree, the city government can proceed with public bidding for urban renewal and planning. Owners in the area are urged to submit their intent forms promptly to accelerate the development process. The department clarified that the intent form only signifies agreement to participate in the public urban renewal initiative and does not involve other rights or obligations.
