Children Celebrate Legacy of Integrity and Service of Late Elder Statesman Ramsey Onyia

The children of the late elder statesman and community leader, Ozo Ramsey Onyia, have gathered to celebrate his life and enduring legacy. They remember him as a man who consistently embodied integrity, humility, selfless service, and a profound love for humanity throughout his life.

During the commemorative gathering, his children recalled his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his people. They emphasized that the values he upheld would continue to inspire future generations. His son, Ozo Fred Onyia, described his father as a humble and dedicated individual who championed equity, fairness, and justice. Fred noted his father's deep commitment to serving his community and the principled way he lived, values he successfully instilled in his children.

Reflecting on the responsibility of carrying forward his father's legacy, Fred expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "I am grateful that I have the opportunity to step into the shoes. They are quite big, but he has made sure that my feet are long enough too." His daughter, Pastor Ngozika Anochirimonye-Agu, remembered her father as a model parent whose love, guidance, and support were a constant presence in her life. She described him as having "an answer to every stage of my life" and encouraged others to read his published memoir, which offers valuable lessons on fatherhood, leadership, and service.

Another daughter, Dr. Chizoba Ijioma, characterized the late Onyia as an accessible and compassionate man known for his open-door policy, who devoted himself fully to his family and community. "I’m taking away his name, the name he preserved for us," she said, pledging to uphold his legacy by prioritizing others. Despite the pain of their loss, the children expressed profound gratitude for the goodwill, values, and strong reputation their father left behind. They are committed to preserving his legacy and continuing the ideals of integrity, service, humility, and love for humanity that defined his remarkable life.
