Children's Book Fair: Unmissable Guide for All Ages and Budgets

The 34th edition of the Children's Book Fair has opened its doors at the Buenos Aires Convention Center, welcoming visitors with two play areas and readings honoring Argentinian children's literature masters María Elena Walsh and Elsa Bornemann. The fair, located at Av. Figueroa Alcorta and Pueyrredón, adjacent to the Facultad de Derecho subway station on Line H, offers daily free activities including story narration, performances, challenges, and author encounters.

The fair will run daily until Sunday, August 2nd. However, the Fundación El Libro confirmed that the fair will be closed on Sunday, July 19th, to accommodate the World Cup final. On Saturdays and until August 2nd, the fair operates from 2 PM to 8 PM. Spread across approximately 3,000 square meters in its historical venue, the fair features around seventy stands from large, small, and medium-sized publishers, as well as discount bookstores.

Many publishers are offering special discounts for those using "chequelibros," payment vouchers worth ten thousand pesos distributed by the Fundación El Libro to students who visited the fair with their teachers during the week. For example, Editorial Común, sharing space with Niño, Periplo, and Libros del Zorro Rojo, reported high demand for Liniers' coloring books, with "Mini Mamarracho" priced at ten thousand pesos when paid with a chequelibro. The latest book by the "Macanudo" author, "Una torta siempre importa," created with Angélica del Campo, is available for $20,000.

Independent publisher Niño, specializing in reissuing older works, is offering "¿Y después?" by Katsumi Komagata for ten thousand pesos. Their new releases include the book-album "Esta historia no es sobre un gatito" by Randall de Séve and Carson Ellis ($31,900) and "Arrorró" by Viktoria Spiryagina ($27,100). Petit, in comic book format, is highlighted as one of Isol's hits, with her inauguration event scheduled for Friday at 5 PM. Starting this weekend, promotions with credit cards will remain valid even after school visits conclude and chequelibros are no longer distributed.
