Children's First Film Festival Experience: 'Tiffi Delivery' Festival Heads to Kaohsiung for the First Time

The "Tiffi Delivery" Children's Film Festival, organized by Public Television Service (PTS), is making its debut in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, bringing an international cinematic event to Southern Taiwan. The festival showcases 106 films from 45 countries, offering 50 screenings that include feature films, animations, and television programs.

PTS Chairman Hu Yuan-hui highlighted the move to Kaohsiung as a new endeavor. He noted that "Tiffi Delivery" not only presents selected works previously shown in Taipei but also introduces a new segment tailored for teenagers. The festival aims to expose more children and adolescents to global visual creations. Hu emphasized that the content reflects PTS's years of curatorial experience and, with support from the Ministry of Culture, seeks to engage Southern Taiwan audiences in this celebration of children's cinema.

Moving the festival to Kaohsiung this year is a brand new attempt.

Continuing the theme of "A Child's First Film Festival Experience," this year's event features age-specific viewing content. Children aged 4-7 can enjoy films with full Mandarin dubbing, while those aged 8-12 can explore themes of friendship, family, life, and growth through curated units. The newly launched "Youth On Air" section specifically targets teenagers, presenting 28 short and feature films that focus on dreams, self-identity, and personal development.

Tiffi Delivery not only brings selected works from previous Taipei exhibitions but also includes a new unit specifically designed for teenagers.

The opening film, "The Book of Myself," winner of Best Film at the Montreal International Children's Film Festival, tells the story of a young girl named Nina discovering herself through creative expression. The closing film, "BISHU: The World's Gentlest Clothes," a recipient of the KINEKO International Children's Film Festival Grand Prix in Japan, is set against the backdrop of traditional Japanese textile craftsmanship and explores family bonds.

Additionally, award-winning films from previous TICFF editions will be screened in Kaohsiung. These include "Blue Summer Dreams" for Best Feature Film, "My Versailles Diary" for Best Animated Feature, and "Welcome to My Farm" and "There Are No Islands at Sea" for Best TV/Web Program and the Taiwan Award. The Audience Award winner, "The Secret of the Sparrows," will also be shown, offering Southern Taiwan audiences a chance to revisit these acclaimed works on the big screen. Tickets went on sale August 7, with early bird prices starting at NT$100 and group packages as low as NT$85 per ticket. Cultural vouchers are also accepted. The festival runs from September 23 to 27.
